If you grew up with Sunday afternoon reruns and a soft spot for movie dogs, you probably still picture Nicholle Tom as Maggie Sheffield. The awkward teen. The headbands. The preppy panic. That image got a sharp update when Tom popped up on Australian TV in 2024 and reminded everyone that she grew up since the Beethoven movies and The Nanny sitcom.
Appearing on The Morning Show, Nicholle Tom, who was 45 at the time (now 47), chatted with Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies about life after being a child star. Gone was the blonde bob. In its place, shoulder-length red hair.

You remember Maggie from The Nanny as the shy heiress drowning in private school rules, while Fran Fine blew through the house like a fashion siren. Tom landed that role at 15, fresh off Beethoven, which means she was basically growing up on soundstages. She said it herself: “I was 15 at that time and it was such a growing experience, being that young.” You can see it across six seasons, from 1993 to 1999, as Maggie slowly found her place.
Tom didn’t vanish after the laugh track faded, however. She stacked roles across film and TV, popped up in The Princess Diaries, Gotham, and Beverly Hills, 90210, and even voiced Supergirl in multiple animated DC series.
These days, she keeps things personal, sharing DIY projects on YouTube and picking work that fits her life, not the other way around.
Then there’s the reunion talk. When asked if the cast might return, she didn’t dodge it. “That would be amazing and wonderful. I think it should happen, it would make a fabulous movie.”

It’s been 34 years since Beethoven slobbered into cinemas. Nicholle Tom might look different now, sure. But her smile is the same. She’s still beautiful and still busy in Hollywood. You can still catch her in some of your favourite Hallmark movies.
