The Island Boys have been through a lot over the years. There’s been plenty of ups and downs. But it seems like Alex Venegas, better known as Flyysoulja from the Island Boys, is finally willing to make some big changes to his life moving forward.
Somewhere in a Walmart parking lot, Venegas was approached by someone named Benjamin regarding prayer and, the Island Boy’s response was surprising.
Talking about losing everything and slowly clawing it back, Venegas responds, “I just came out of rehab… I lost it all… I’ve gained it back… I work hard… I go through a lot… depression, anxiety, confusion.”
There’s no performance here. We can tell by his voice and his mannerisms that he is totally sincere.

When Benjamin asks him if he can pray for him, Alex agrees. “Father God, here we have Alex… I feel Alex has a lot of weight on his heart,” he says, asking for protection, guidance, and a new beginning for the rapper. And honestly, it could’ve been very awkward or forced, but it really isn’t. It’s a beautiful moment.
Alex doesn’t brush off religion. In fact, he seems to be welcoming it. “This week, I thought about going to church,” he says after the stranger’s prayer. Not for content or clicks this time. It seems he is looking for something much deeper.
Then Benjamin offered to take him to VU Church in Miami, and Alex doesn’t hesitate. “Even if he don’t pick me up, I’m going to go,” he adds.
The moment feels incredibly deep when you realise just how much has been happening around Alex Venegas. Just a few months ago, authorities detained him under Florida’s Baker Act after concerns about his mental state.
At the time, his brother, Frank Venegas (Kodiyakredd), pushed back hard, while Alex’s ex, KaylaThayla, painted a rough picture of his living conditions, including his very messy home and fractured family life. “It’s just completely demolished,” she said.
So this very random prayer could be the beginning of a huge turning point for one half of the Island Boys. Let’s hope Alex Venegas finds the answers he needs.
