Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party wasn’t all champagne and designer gowns — at least not in the version Ellen DeGeneres decided to share. On Wednesday, November 5, the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch officially hit the big seven-zero, and her longtime friend Ellen celebrated in the most Ellen way possible: by publicly posting a video of Kris dead asleep.
DeGeneres, 67, who’s known for her playful interviews with Jenner during The Ellen DeGeneres Show days, uploaded the clip to Instagram. In the video, Kris is sprawled out on a couch, eyes shut, probably dreaming about Birkin bags or grandkids. Meanwhile, Ellen is just inches away, serenading her with the Silk Sonic hit “Leave the Door Open.”
It’s not exactly a lullaby.
Ellen whispers the lyrics directly into Kris’s ear, every single word, clearly enjoying herself far more than anyone else in the room. For a while, Kris doesn’t even twitch. Then, right as Bruno Mars hits that soulful bridge, Jenner jolts awake, visibly confused, and delivers the now-immortal line: “What the f— is wrong with you people?”
If you’ve ever wondered how the Kardashian momager wakes up, this might be the most accurate depiction yet.
Ellen captioned the post: “Happy birthday, Kris. I wish I could wake you up like this every day.” Naturally, the comments section went wild. Kim and Khloé Kardashian both wrote that they were “crying,” while Zoe Saldaña declared it “the best!” Jay Shetty dropped laughing emojis, and Malika Haqq and Jenna Dewan joined in on the laughter. It’s not often you see Hollywood collectively giggle at one woman’s nap.
Of course, Kris doesn’t just let a milestone like 70 slide by quietly. Ahead of her birthday, she reportedly got a little tune-up — her second facelift, courtesy of Dr. Steven Levine in New York. Her first one was famously shown on Keeping Up with the Kardashians back in 2011, because when you’re Kris Jenner, even surgery becomes reality TV.
In an August chat with Vogue Arabia, she was refreshingly honest about it: “Just because you get older, it doesn’t mean you should give up on yourself. If you feel comfortable in your skin and you want to age gracefully – meaning you don’t want to do anything – then don’t do anything. But for me, this is aging gracefully. It’s my version.”
