Sean “Diddy” Combs (aka Puff Daddy, aka Puffy) might be in prison, but judging by the new photos out of Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, the hip-hop producer is still managing to keep his trademark grin while doing time. The Bad Boy Records founder was snapped over the weekend laughing and chatting with other inmates in the New Jersey prison yard, dressed in a dark blue coat, gray pants, and a gray beanie.
According to reports, Diddy has been settling into prison life with ease. One image even shows him shaking hands with another inmate. Gone is the solemn orange beanie look from earlier photos; this time, he seems lighter, even at peace.
Combs, 55, was moved to Fort Dix earlier this week after requesting the transfer so he could take part in the facility’s residential drug treatment program. His attorney, Teny Geragos, told the court that the move would help Diddy focus on rehabilitation and maintain closer family contact. “He’s committed to remaining drug-free, non-violent, and peaceful,” Diddy said in a letter to the judge, describing his time in custody as a “spiritual reset.”
Fort Dix sits about 34 miles east of Philadelphia on the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst military base, a low-security setup known for its drug rehab programs and predictable daily routine. Diddy’s reportedly already got a job in prison, too. He’s on laundry duty.
The rapper-producer has served roughly 14 months of his 50-month sentence so far after being convicted in July 2024 on two counts under the Mann Act for transporting women across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of the heavier charges involving sex trafficking and racketeering, which had drawn massive media attention. Cameras weren’t allowed during the trial, so this is the first clear look fans have had of him since his September 2024 arrest.
Behind the scenes, Diddy’s legal team have asked a federal appeals court to reexamine his conviction and reportedly filed a request for a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.
His lawyer, Mark Geragos, admitted on the “2 Angry Men” podcast that he was worried about how his client would cope behind bars, but the latest photos tell a different story. Diddy’s smiling, social, and apparently holding his own.
You might not expect the man once known for throwing million-dollar parties to find calm within prison walls, but Diddy seems to be the life of the party wherever he is.
