Rihanna went to a Mariah Carey show in Las Vegas, tried to act like a normal person for five minutes, and the universe said… No, sorry. According to viral clips circulating online, she got swept up in the holiday mood, singing along, and swaying. Then someone, a fellow concertgoer, yelled at her to sit down. Of course, RiRi didn’t take it well.
The reason, at least in the clips and the reactions flying around after, was simple: don’t block the view. And if you’re thinking, wait, someone really told Rihanna to sit down like she’s a tall guy in a bucket hat, yes. Yes, they did. The internet turned it into a meme in record time.
The comments split fast. One person backed the shout with, “Just because she’s a celeb doesn’t mean she gets to block my view.” Another added, “People are trying to film; I would understand if this was the whole concert paying money to watch!”
If you’ve ever paid concert prices and ended up staring at the back of someone’s head for two hours, you get the frustration. Your ticket buys you a view, not a neck workout.
But the other side came in hot. People pointed out it didn’t look like Rihanna was blocking much and, honestly, it’s a concert. Fans defended her right to enjoy the moment. “It doesn’t look like she was blocking much of the view… let her enjoy the show!” And then there’s the bravery factor. “Imagine being the person who told Rihanna to sit down at a concert… the confidence is actually impressive.”
If you’re stuck behind someone, ask like a human first, not like you’re auditioning to go viral. Rihanna, for her part, stayed cool and kept jamming – although she looked like she could throw hands at any moment too.
Next time Rihanna should probably ask Mariah Carey for her own VIP section in the front.
