From whirlwind romances to once-solid power couples, even the most picture-perfect pairings couldn’t beat the pressure. Whether it was clashing schedules, creative differences, or just growing apart, 2025 proved that fame isn’t exactly a relationship love potion.
Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin
The split between Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin stings a little…ok maybe a lot. It feels like our two unproblematic best friends have broken up after nearly eight years together. Of course, the two had been on-and-off throughout their relationship, but this time felt like it was for the long haul, especially because the Coldplay frontman and Materialists actress were engaged. But apparently, their age gap and differing life goals were too much to overcome. Sigh.

Emma Corrin and Rami Malek seemed like the perfect quirky pairing. Sure, we often forget they were even together, given how private they both are, but then we’d get a welcome reminder when they popped up together at public events. While there were signs, it’s still hard to believe that Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s nearly 17 year marriage came to an end this January. A week after the couple’s split became public, Alba addressed the rumours via Instagram, writing, “I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years, and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.” Both have already moved on to new romantic interests, but they appear to be trying their best to co-parent amicably.
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
Jessica Simpson is already the second Jessica to announce a split this year. The country singer confirmed her separation from husband Eric Johnson in a statement to People in Jan. “Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she said. They are still determined to co-parent their three children, Maxwell, Birdie Mae, and Ace Knute, together.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom called off their six-year engagement in July 2025. The couple had apparently been trying for months to make their relationship work for the sake of their daughter. However, they insist that no love has been lost in the situation and continue to support each other’s careers. All we can say is R.I.P Kabloom.

They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”
