Plenty of other celebrities have been dealing with their own health battles, some stepping back from their careers, others sharing their struggles openly with fans. Whether it’s unexpected diagnoses or ongoing medical challenges, these situations have really shown us the human side of fame. Here are 10 celebrities whose health issues have caught our attention in 2025.
10. Joe Biden

The former US President’s media team revealed back in May that Mr. Biden was suffering from an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer. Fortunately, the career politician and his team remain optimistic that the condition is highly curable.
9. Lil Nas X

2025 has been a true rollercoaster for rapper Lil Nas X. Following a partial facial paralysis incident in April, he was later found disoriented and lost in Los Angeles in August, an event that culminated in his arrest with four felony counts.
8. James Van Der Beek

The Dawson’s Creek star revealed his colorectal cancer prognosis in late 2024. This year, James Van Der Beek told his Instagram followers how much the condition has impacted his life, but still surprised fans when he joined the Dawson’s Creek reunion.
7. Shakira

The Colombian singer was forced to cancel one of her concerts in February due to abdominal pains. Though the cause wasn’t disclosed, fans were happy to hear she made a swift recovery.
6. Justin Timberlake

Back in July, the singer revealed he had just been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Despite the illness, Timberlake soldiered on and successfully completed his JT Live 2025 tour.
5. Michael Bolton

Bolton’s long-lasting battle against brain cancer raged on in 2025. In April, Bolton told People magazine that he was tumor-free, but that he would still need constant MRI scans to make sure his glioblastoma stays gone.
4. Billy Joel

The Piano Man shocked his fans when he unexpectedly postponed his shows in March of this year. Later, his PR team would reveal that Joel was diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, a condition that affected his balance and hearing, forcing him to cancel any further tour dates for the foreseeable future. The prognosis remains positive, though.
3. Carlos Santana

The legendary guitarist was forced to cancel two concerts in Texas this year. Santana was diagnosed with acute dehydration coupled with a COVID diagnosis. Fortunately, he made a full recovery and is currently still on tour.
2. Bindi Irwin

Steve Irwin’s daughter has been battling with endometriosis since at least 2023. This year, the same day as the Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas, Bindi had to be interned due to pain and discomfort. The doctors removed 14 endometriosis lesions, and Bindi has since made a full recovery.

The award-winning actor shocked fans this April by revealing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – more commonly known as ALS. Dane acknowledged developing acute muscle weakness due to the condition, but remains closely connected to his family, drawing strength from their love and support.
