Most people look at a birthmark and see… a birthmark. Millie Bobby Brown looks at hers and sees the final moments of another life. The 22-year-old Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star made the claim during a relaxed interview with her Enola Holmes 3 co-star Louis Partridge, and she didn’t sound like someone tossing out a random theory. Brown spoke with complete confidence about who she believes she used to be and how that life came to an end.
“Oh, I actually know exactly who I was. I died… Basically, I have a birthmark [on] my lower back, the very bottom of my kind of spine, which is obviously meant to be the way that you died in your past life,” she said.
Then Brown explained why she thinks the birthmark is there. According to her, she died after a sword was driven into her spine during a battle. “In war, some, well, I don’t know if this happened a lot or not, but… to kill people but make them have a painful death, they would put swords up people’s spines. So they were completely paralyzed, but they would obviously kind of die, and that’s how I think I died. So I think I might have been a soldier,” she explained.
Then she added another detail that caught Partridge off guard. Brown believes she wasn’t just a soldier. She believes she was a man, and a closeted gay man.

Partridge, however, wasn’t convinced. When the conversation turned to whether he believed in past lives, the actor quickly shut the idea down. Brown didn’t argue with him or try to change his mind. “Okay, well, that ends that then,” she replied with a laugh before the interview moved on.
Oddly enough, the discussion didn’t stop with reincarnation. The pair were also asked what they believe happens after death, and Brown’s answer took things in a different direction. “You go to heaven. That’s what I believe.”
It’s an interesting mix of beliefs. On one hand, Brown believes she has lived before. On the other, she believes people go to heaven after they die. Plenty of people would see those ideas as conflicting. Brown didn’t seem interested in untangling the theology behind them. She simply answered the question honestly.
If you’ve followed Brown’s career, the openness isn’t all that surprising. Since breaking out as Eleven in Stranger Things, she’s built a reputation for speaking her mind in interviews. Whether she’s talking about growing up in the spotlight, launching her Florence by Mills beauty brand or producing the Enola Holmes films, Brown rarely filters herself into polished celebrity answers.
