The singer has gone and added a former Canadian Prime Minister to the résumé of iconic moments. Yes, the dating rumors are no longer rumors. Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are Instagram-official.
On Saturday, the 40-year-old pop powerhouse shared a video from Tokyo. She’s casually enjoying sushi while Justin Trudeau, 53, sits beside her with the kind of starry-eyed look usually reserved for maple syrup and well-funded healthcare. “Tokyo times on tour and more,” she captioned the post, which also included a selfie of the two.
Her Lifetimes tour recently hit Saitama, about 15 miles from Tokyo, because Perry doesn’t do boring tour stops. Meanwhile, Trudeau has been popping up right alongside her. Earlier in the week, he reposted a picture on X with Japan’s former PM Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. Kishida’s caption spilled the tea for everyone paying attention, saying Trudeau “visited Japan with his partner and joined me and my wife for lunch.”
“Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko,” Trudeau replied.

Their timeline of romance breadcrumbs goes back to July. Montreal. Dinner. Paparazzi. Sparks. The same weekend, Trudeau was caught singing Perry’s own “Firework” at one of her shows.
Then came Paris on October 25, her birthday, where they were spotted holding hands before hopping into a car as photographers lost their minds.
Both arrive in this new pairing with past-relationship mileage. Trudeau separated from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three kids: Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien. Perry and Orlando Bloom—engaged since 2019—officially split in July and co-parent their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
If you’re going to date publicly, you might as well launch the relationship like a stadium show. Front row seats. Bright lights. There seems to be no other way for Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau to announce it to the world besides Instagram.
