We have seen many awesome custom sneakers on social media, some of which we have covered on one of our adjacent sites, Sneaker Fortress. Still, it is rare to see gorgeously crafted custom Timberland boots. It’s our (and your) lucky day, as a fantastic artist has hand-dyed and painted a pair of custom “Cloudy” Timberlands for us to enjoy.
Inspired by the Louis Vuitton “Heaven on Earth” fashion show, custom artist Jacopo Malossetti put himself in Virgil Abloh’s very big shoes, trying to imagine how he would have designed these Timberland boots if he were still at the helm of the luxury designer brand. The gorgeous custom is a work of art that even the artist thinks might be his best work.
Malossetti shared images of hand dying, airbrushing, and painting these gorgeous custom boots. The chunky outsole of the boots is left completely original, with their signature brown tint and iconic tread. The only other parts of the boots that haven’t changed are the gold eyelets and the chain of the Timberland hangtag for the pair; everything else has been masterfully customised.
While Timberlands can come in any number of shapes and sizes, one of the most iconic colours and materials that they are made from is a light tan nubuck with plush leather on the collar that wraps around the ankle, either the same shade of light tan or slightly darker, so seeing a blue pair of Timberlands is a rare sight.
The usual tan nubuck has been dyed a stunning, deep sky blue, with a bit of mottling and different intensities throughout to give the boots a painterly and artistic feel and add some texture to the look.
The upper has been decorated with light, fluffy clouds throughout the boot and even on the hangtag, which has also been customised to match the boots. The Timberland tree appears in solid white to match the clouds and the other accents on the boots.
Pure white laces match this detail perfectly, as well as the plush collar of the boots, which has been airbrushed white for a smooth, creaseless finish that perfectly accents the custom “Cloudy” Timberlands.
The tongue of these boots shows their custom origins, with a button logo that is Malossetti’s calling card. This isn’t the only alteration made to the tongue, as the inner side of the leather has been bleached or painted white to match the rest of the accents throughout the boots. Still, they pay homage to the Louis Vuitton inspiration with branding throughout the tongue and even the LV logo and signature patterning. This beautiful touch completes the boots and proves that they were thoughtfully designed as an homage to the luxury brand and the fashion show that inspired them.
While a few of Jacopo Malossetti’s custom designs are available for purchase through the Fishem site, these gorgeous custom “Cloudy” Timberland boots are not one of the available designs because they are a one-of-one piece. That being said, keep an eye out on his Instagram page to see if he ever creates more if you would love to own a pair.
