2025 hasn’t pulled any punches, and July felt like a heavyweight roundhouse to the face of Hollywood. While most of the internet was arguing about AI scripts and whether the new Batman should smile, we quietly lost a few true legends. Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s death in his mid-50s shook longtime fans of The Cosby Show, while Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness himself, finally left the stage for good. But those weren’t the only goodbyes. Several actors who defined eras, shaped genres, and made us care about background characters in movies we only half-remember also passed away, with barely a whisper of recognition. Why? Here are a few celebrities who died in 2025 that fans didn’t talk about enough.
Richard Chamberlain

Richard Chamberlain, known as “the king of the miniseries”, passed away from complications after a stroke. The actor had many memorable roles on the small screen in the 80s and 90s, including priest Ralph de Bricassart in The Thorn Birds, John Blackthorne in Shōgun.
Joe Don Baker

Joe Don Baker died of lung cancer at the age of 89 on May 7, 2025. Famed for his numerous on-screen performances as the “tough guy” character, Baker’s six-decade career, from Cool Hand Luke in the ’60s to Mud in 2012, established him as a star.
Valerie Mahaffey

Emmy Award-winning actress Valerie Mahaffey passed away from cancer at the age of 71. She appeared in numerous hit TV shows throughout her career, including The West Wing, ER, Frasier, Seinfeld, and Wings. But her Emmy-winning performance came as Eve in Northern Exposure.
George Wendt

The loveable, charming and funny George Wendt sadly passed from a cardiac arrest in May 20 2025. Wendt could surprisingly pull off more than just comedic roles, as seen in his dramatic performances in films like Guilty by Suspicionand Someone’s Watching Your Dreams. But of course, we’ll always remember him as good ol’ Norm in the sitcom Cheers.
Loni Anderson

The beautiful Loni Anderson passed away after a long illness at the age of 79. She is best remembered for her role as Jennifer on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, but she also starred as Jayne Mansfield in the ’80s alongside a then-unknown Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Kelley Mack

The Walking Dead actress Kelley Mack died at the age of 33 on August 2 2025. The actress, producer and voice over artist was battling cancer at the time of her passing.
Rene Kirby

Rene Kirby, former actor and gymnast, passed away on July 11, 2025, after two months in the hospital. The 70-year-old played Walt in the Farrelly Brothers’ film Shallow Hal in the early 2000s.
Ananda Lewis

Ananda Lewis’ struggle with breast cancer ended on June 11, 2025. The American broadcast journalist was well recognised for her time as an MTV VJ and Teen Summit host.
Peter Jason

Hollywood veteran Peter Jason died of cancer on February 20, 2025. The 80-year-old actor played Con Stapleton in Deadwood and Dr. Paul Leahy in Carpenter’s “Prince of Darkness”.
Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff

Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff passed away at 62 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She acted alongside her former husband, David Hasselhoff, on Baywatch.
Brandon Blackstock

Talent manager Brandon Blackstock passed away after a three-year battle with cancer. Blackstock, who died on 7 August 2025, was formerly married to singer Kelly Clarkson.
D’Angelo

D’Angelo, 51, has died after a private battle with cancer. Born Michael Eugene Archer in Richmond, Virginia, on Feb. 11, 1974, he was playing piano by age three and redefining soul by his twenties. Brown Sugar and Voodoo didn’t just top charts—they changed them. Collaborating with Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Q-Tip, D’Angelo fused gospel, funk, and hip-hop into something unmistakably his own. After years away, he returned with 2014’s Black Messiah, a charged and fearless statement that proved he hadn’t lost a note. Four Grammys, 14 nominations, and a generation of imitators later, his groove still echoes everywhere.
Udo Kier

Udo Kier spent a lifetime zigzagging between the strange and the mainstream, and he never looked bored doing it. Born in 1944, he became essential viewing for anyone who liked their cinema risky, loud, and a little unhinged. His breakout came in the mid-1970s with Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula, horror oddities backed by Andy Warhol that turned Kier into a cult obsession. From there, he drifted through films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Gus Van Sant, and Lars von Trier, then casually showed up in Blade, Armageddon, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Over 200 films later, Kier died on November 23, 2025, in Palm Springs. He was 81.
Bob Burns III

Bob Burns III wore many different hats in the entertainment industry. Sure, he had roles in many sci-fi/horror films and TV shows as either monsters or gorillas, but he was also a consultant, producer, archivist and historian for many more movies in the genres. Sadly, Burns passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 90.
Peter Greene

Peter Greene was cast as a villain in almost every project he appeared in, including his most memorable roles in Pulp Fiction and The Mask. Unfortunately, the actor passed at age 60 in a gory scene that could have been straight out of one of his movies. Greene was reportedly found lying face down with “blood everywhere” and a note near his body that read, “I’m still a Westie.” The mystery of his death has yet to be solved.
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

While 75-year-old Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa was known for his intense stare that could sear right into your soul, he could just as easily pull off the role of a laidback surfing grandpa (Johnny Tsunami) or sophisticated baron (Memoirs Of A Geisha) as he could a remorseless villain (Mortal Kombat). In fact, the Japanese American actor had a prolific career in Hollywood before he died from complications of a stroke on December 4, 2025.
Danny Seagren

Danny Seagren, born November 15, 1943, swung from being Ernie’s “right hand” to TV’s first live-action Spider-Man on The Electric Company. He also suited up as Big Bird on Sesame Street. He died November 10 at 81. His family wrote, “Danny will be greatly missed.”
