Kate Beckinsale went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to hype Wildcat, her new high-intensity action movie. You’d expect her to talk stunt doubles, explosions and maybe a villain or two. Instead, she opened with eggs. Laid by a human. Specifically her daughter’s boyfriend.
The 52-year-old actor has been through a tough patch with her daughter Lily Mo Sheen, now 26. They lost both of Kate’s parents recently, so anything that sparks even the tiniest laugh counts as a miracle. And nothing screams “good distraction” like a guy discovering he laid what appears to be… breakfast.
“He laid two eggs in a week is what the bright spot was,” she told Jimmy, like this is a normal update you share on late-night TV. Jimmy needed more details. Everyone needed more details.
Kate delivered. “It came out the route it would come out of a hen. Well, not his vagina. He went to the bathroom and was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg.”
You can almost hear the audience’s souls leaving their bodies.
She grilled him because, c’mon, if someone in your family suddenly starts producing poultry products, you ask questions. “I said to him, ‘Is this some kind of attention-seeking? Are you putting eggs up your bottom?’ But I think it’s quite hard to put an egg up your bottom and then get it out whole without injuring the egg.”

Egg number two arrived only days later, and this time Lily came prepared with photographic evidence. Kate proudly scrolled through the images on the couch while Jimmy stared like he was witnessing the collapse of known biology. “What in the world,” he muttered. “Your daughter’s boyfriend is the Easter Bunny, there’s no other way to explain this!”
Naturally, they asked doctors for answers. That didn’t help.
Even with grief looming over the family, this bizarre mystery gave them something to fixate on that didn’t hurt. “I got very involved in this because I really did need a distraction because everything was so horrible.”
The boyfriend’s response? Pure panic, as any non-monotreme mammal would react when suddenly discovering they might be part platypus.
Kate’s review remains glowing. “It’s my favorite thing he’s ever done, and I really like him. But it’s been a while, and I’m ready for another one.”
If the third egg drops, Wildcat won’t need another marketing campaign. This story alone could sell out cinemas.
