Many might tell you that height matters, but some of Hollywood’s best-known actors have proven that, like age, size ain’t nothing but a number. Yes, these short kings have camera angles and elevator shoes to help them look taller than they actually are. But it’s really their charisma, talent and skill that help give them that extra boost. Still, we’ll admit, it doesn’t hurt to know that you’re probably a bit taller than some of the biggest names in showbiz.
BD Wong (165 cm)
Tony Award winner BD Wong is among the shortest actors in Hollywood. The Chinese actor, maybe best known as geneticist Dr Henry Wu from the Jurassic World franchise, is only 165 cm tall.
Frankie Muniz (165 cm)
You know you’re probably on the shorter side of the height chart when you can convincingly play a 15-year-old agent at the age of 18. Agent Cody Banks star Frankie Muniz measures in at just 165 cm. That said, his height has aided in his career switch to racecar driving.
Danny Trejo (167cm)
Anyone who comes across Danny Trejo would think twice about crossing him. Machete in hand, tattoo across his chest, and that mean scowl on his face, he is more than a little terrifying. But at only 167 cm, he’s actually shorter than the average man. It goes to show that physical size isn’t the only factor in intimidation.
Jet Li (168cm)
Jet Li may be on the shorter side of the height (just 168 cm), but the Chinese actor has big martial arts skills. He has multiple championship titles to his name. It’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for.
Martin Freeman (169 cm)
Martin Freeman may not be what we’d call Hobbit-sized in real life, but he is still shorter than the average man at just 169 cm. His The Lord of the Rings predecessors are not what we’d call giants either. Sean Astin comes in at 170cm, while Elijah Wood is only 168cm.
Dave Franco (170 cm)
Dave Franco was definitely gifted with the same charming smile and acting talent as his older brothers. That said, the younger sibling wasn’t quite as blessed in the height department. His brothers, James and Tom, measure 180 cm and 185 cm, respectively. Dave, on the other hand, is a mere 170 cm.
James McAvoy (170 cm)
Scottish actor James McAvoy has reportedly lost roles for being “too short”. We think he managed to pull off an impressive list of credits, even with a height of 170 cm.
Bruce Lee (172 cm)
To most Bruce Lee fans, his charisma and martial arts skills made him seem larger than life on the big screen. In actual fact, the late legend stood at just 172 cm in height, although some sources claim he was even shorter.
Don Cheadle (172 cm)
Height probably doesn’t matter when you have an armoured battle suit to jump into, a.k.a the War Machine. But since we’re talking numbers, Don Cheadle comes in at a modest 172 cm.
Kit Harington (173 cm)
Kit Harington’s height of 173 cm has been called into question after photos of him standing next to his Game of Thrones cast members appeared online. Chances are, the English actor could be shorter than the listed height. But, hey, what short actor hasn’t had their height exaggerated in Hollywood?
