As much as we enjoy dressing up for the spooky season ourselves (and believe me, we do), we probably love seeing which celebrity will pull off the year’s best Halloween costume even more. Whether or fav celebs are vying for attention at Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party, flaunting their ‘killer’ looks on social media, or just being downright silly with the season, they seldom do costumes half-heartedly. Here are 10 of the best celebrity Halloween costumes we’ve had the pleasure of seeing.
Doja Cat
When you’re as creative and daring as Doja Cat, every outfit is a chance to colour outside the lines. She has dressed as a wool-loving cat to the BET Awards, covered herself in red Swarovski crystals for Paris Fashion Week, and even made a Met Gala appearance as Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat. So you can only imagine that her Halloween looks would be even more outlandish. We especially love her take on Princess Kida from Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
Heidi Klum
If anyone deserves the title of “Halloween Queen,” it’s Heidi Klum. There hasn’t been a single year since the 2000s that the model hasn’t stolen the show with her costume. Somehow, she even pulled off dressing up like a wigged E.T. in 2024. The costume was so difficult to put on and take off that she apparently chose to wear an adult diaper. Yup, that’s how committed she is.
Janelle Monáe
Next in line for “Halloween Queen” would be none other than Janelle Monáe. Funnily enough, the singer shared a costume inspiration with Klum in 2024. Both celebrities chose the alien E.T. as their muse for Halloween, but at least they served fans slightly different aesthetics. That doesn’t make it any less hard to say which celebrity had the best E.T. Halloween costume.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is another performer who doesn’t hold back when it comes to on-stage looks or red carpet appearances. Think candy-covered tutus and Canadian Tuxedos. But she also brings the same energy, fun, and whimsy to her Halloween looks. Just check out her Flamin’ Hot Cheetos costume from 2022.
Kevin Hart
When it comes to costumes that will crack you up, Kevin Hart absolutely nailed it in 2019. The comedian dressed up just like the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson 90s meme. We’re talking fanny pack, black turtleneck, gold chain, the works. We love how he didn’t miss the opportunity to poke fun at his friend and fellow Jumanji actor with this Halloween look.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian has pulled off quite a few jaw-dropping Halloween costumes over the years. She’s dressed up as legends like Cher and Selena, paid respect to the Flintstones with the cutest family outfits, and even gave fans a series of iconic looks from a kindred wannabe law student (yes, we’re talking about her cosplay of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde). That said, nothing beats the reality TV star’s transformation into Mystique from Marvel’s X-Men. I mean…look at her.
Kylie Jenner
If there’s one Halloween costume that lives in our minds rent-free, it’s Kylie Jenner’s Bride of Frankenstein outfit. The billionaire beauty mogul wore THE perfect custom Jean Paul Gaultier gown (as well as other custom fits) and finished off her spooky yet glamorous look with a dramatic wig and faux stitches. Then she proceeded to serve fans some of the best horror glam pics we’ve ever seen. ‘Nuff said.
Lupita Nyong’o
As if we’d leave out Lupita Nyong’o’s epic Clueless costume from our list of best celebrity Halloween costumes. In 2018, the actress nailed every detail of Dionne Davenport’s memorable ’90s ensemble. From the elaborate black and white hat right down to the black knee-high socks and heels, Lupita didn’t leave out a single thing.
The Weeknd
Believe it or not, The Weeknd is an absolute pro at Halloween costumes…and we don’t say that lightly. He is especially great at pulling off tributes to movie icons. He’s transformed into Jack Nicholson’s Joker, Beetlejuice, and even The Nutty Professor. It’s tough to pick just one from his lineup of incredible Halloween looks. But if we really had to, we’d go with his take on Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather. There’s no way of even telling that it’s Abel under all that prosthetics.
Will Poulter
If the internet is going to compare you to a kid from a popular Pixar film, you might as well turn it into a memorable Halloween costume. For Halloween 2017, Will Poulter made all Pixar fans’ dreams come true by dressing as Sid from Toy Story. Sure, he nailed the braces and t-shirt, but it’s definitely the uncanny resemblance to Sid that makes this one of the best celebrity Halloween costumes hands down.
