Thanks to Instagram artist AndreasR (@andreasr.art), we don’t have to fantasise for very long because he has turned the Porsche 911 GT3 RS into Lightning McQueen’s long-lost cousin—and, yes, it’s as incredible as it sounds. As some may already be aware, Old Lightning is a hybrid of the bodywork of several championship-winning and history-making race cars. That is why it feels appropriate to have him turned into this sleek and iconic Porsche vehicle—which also happens to be a high-performance homologation of various cars, stunning and fast Porsche 911 sports cars, to be exact. It’s pretty impressive to see how the artist was able to capture McQueen’s likeness while still maintaining the sleek and powerful look of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

To fully bring the beloved animated character to life on the real-world racing machine, the car has been coated in Lightning McQueen’s signature red colour and features Rust-Eze decals on the back, lightning bolts on the sides, and the race car’s signature “95” decals. Though some design cues, like McQueen’s red rims and silver side-exit exhausts, are conspicuously absent, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS’s luxurious build gives the impression that the well-known character has grown up and become, well, more sophisticated.
Yet the design isn’t restricted to just the exterior. A little Lightning McQueen magic has also been added to the car’s interior, with custom upholstery featuring McQueen’s iconic racing number and red stitching to tie the whole look together.
This car is a beauty and has definitely revved up the interest of car enthusiasts and Pixar fans worldwide. So far, the Lightning McQueen Porsche 911 GT3 RS has received 920,365 likes on Instagram, with many people eager to see this setup take the streets in real life.
