Have you ever looked at a pair of Timberlands and thought, “Damn, these boots are so good, but they would be even better if they had a rubberised bottom.” No? Honestly, neither have we. But when we saw what the famous artist Donny was doing on Instagram with rubber sneakers and Timberlands, we loved it instantly, and we think you deserve to see them, too.
Donny’s Rubber Timberlands
The boots that caught our eye and drew us to this incredible artist were his variations of the Supreme x Timberland Winter 2023 collection, which came in gorgeous black, tan, and pink. The boots are standard Timberland boots but have a stunning embossed texture all over their uppers, elevating them above a standard pair of Timberland boots.
While Timberlands are perfect in their own right, @donnythedybbuk has elevated them to a new level by rubberising the bottom part of the boots, the hang tag, and the ends of the laces. The best part about the rubberising technique is that Donny can choose exactly what colours he wants to use for these boots and has gone with pastels.
Naming them the “Triple Dip Waffle Cone” collection, these gorgeous boots employ colours like mint, pastel blue, and buttercup yellow that genuinely look like ice cream. The Timberlands are the cones that hold them.
The rubberising technique isn’t just for looks, either. It protects the Timberlands’ chunky outsole and the synthetic leather’s bottom section, making them waterproof, more durable, and easier to clean. We love a fashion moment that is fabulous and functional.
What we like about them
Timberlands are known for being rugged and durable but still qualify as luxury boots for most people. This means that, while they look gorgeous with some wear and tear, most people who buy Timberlands don’t use them for their original purpose. The boots are regulated for fashion purposes only.
The best part about what Donny is doing is that by making these boots waterproof and protecting the lower half of them, consumers can rest assured that their gorgeous boots won’t be damaged. This encourages fans to get awesome, fashionable boots that they can now use more without the fear of damaging them and wasting their money.
Where to buy them
Unfortunately, the awesome waffle-like rubber Timberlands that caught our eye are no longer available on Donny’s site, dybbuknewyork.com, but while our favourites seem out of stock, you still have an option.
Dybbuk currently has the tan variation of the Timberlands, commonly known as Wheat, on their website in a wide selection of sizes for both men and women, with the choice of customising the rubber colour on your boots.
With choices that include their Tangerine Timbs, Tundra Timbs, Black Tar Timbs, Mint Timbs, and our personal favourites, the Valentimbs (option for either pink or red), these customised Timberland boots could be yours for $375.
