Modernisme, or Catalan modernism, was a prominent art movement in Catalonia, Spain, marked by a quest for new enlightenment that birthed artists, musicians, and architects.
Casa Batlló is a striking example of Modernisme in Barcelona, and was designed by the renowned architect Antonia Gaudí, infused with his passion for architecture, nature, and religion.
Built in 1877 by Emilio Sala Cortés, the building was later acquired and renamed Casa Batlló in 1903 by prominent businessman and textile industrialist Josep Batlló y Casanovas.
